Geom post #01

And finally, before I leave, just some simple problems. If you are one of my batchmates (or upperclassmen of our school), this shouldn't be difficult for you. ^^; Answers/solutions to come soon. (Click on the pics to enlarge and see the figures clearer. Figures made with AutoCAD 2004.)

Geom Problem 01
In this problem, a conveyor belt is put around two circular belts in the manner shown in the picture, i.e. the tangent segments are internal and they intersect. Given the radii of the circles and the distance of the circles' centers, find the length of the belt.

Geom Problem 02
This problem is similar to Problem 01, except that the belt has a different oriention; the segments tangent to the circles are external tangents this time (i.e. do not intersect). Given the radii of the circles and the distance of the circles' centers, find the length of the belt. The approach is almost the same as in GP01.
